2010... and the

First decade of the century is over.....

To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wish.

To All Others:

Enjoy, have fun and remember only the best of 2009...

Sending wonderful wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Safe 2010 !!

First Christmas Smiles -WW

Last year was Sammy's first Christmas,
here he is enjoying his jumperoo...
full of smiles as always!

this year he will running and climbing everywhere and on everything!!
It should be a good time for this jolly elf and his big brother Collin.

I wish everyone a Blessed Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year !!

So Santa asks... And what would

you like to have Santa bring you this Christmas Collin????

Collin thinking very thoughtfully.....
and thinks....
and thinks just a bit more....

I want a vacuum!!

A, a vacuum ????

now wait a Christmas moment here...
are you not the same Collin that has been hysterically afraid of vacuums?
the same Collin , who even at the sight of a vacuum would bring screams of terror and ever so large tears pouring down his face??? The same boy who was so afraid of the mention of Mr. vacuum that it had to stay hidden away in a closet, and only brought out when you were sleeping or out of the house!!!

Santa is puzzled??? Santa scratches his head...
Mommy is puzzled? Daddy is puzzled as well!

Just what has made this little boy change his mind about "evil" Mr. Vacuum???

Maybe he thinks they look fun , like something he has seen on TV?

It is kind of funny looking?? Almost like a robot, or a space ship?
Is it a Transformer ??? A VacuumBot??

This Memaw is thinking she will have to do some investigating over Christmas to find out the source, and see if Collin is really over his vacuum frights!

Who knows what goes on in the imagination of a 4 year old boy....

I just hope it is full of delightful and fun ideas!!

Happy Holidays and what kind of investigating will you have to do this holiday season??? I hope they are all fun and end with delight!

Garden of memories...

December 14, was a hard day for a small community of Mom bloggers that I call friends. Shellie, a blogging and military mom lost her 2 year old son, to accidental drowning. This small community, at MomDot.com gathered like a family, so she would not be alone, until her husband can come home from training for re-deployment overseas. I do not know Shellie personally, but as a mother I can feel the common heartbreak for such a terrible loss.
I humbly offer my condolences.
I wrote this poem from the heart, for anyone who needs comforting.
Prayers and healing hugs.
Faythe

Bryson Ross,
forever an angel to watch from above.

God's blessings.
To Shellie Ross and family, for Bryson.

Garden of my Memory...

Somewhere in my memory
there is a garden that I tend...

Every blossom, sound or fragrance
recalls a time and feeling spent.
Many are vibrant, buoyant, full of song,
others gray from tears and heavy with sorrow.

The garden of my memory has needs,
wants, desires... affirmation.
Petals soft and caring,
or hard and tossed with thorns.

The garden of my memory,
like any of earthly splendor-
Needs furrow and rain, before the sun-
to nurture, grow and embrace.

You see this garden holds my seeds of life,
That I have known, fostered and produced.
Intact with past and present, every bloom, sound or scent,
Evoking every moment, compassion or regret.

How well I tend my garden the future will bestow,
My memories, my garden
As one, succeeding any breath or horizon -
much like the sun,
that eternally shines when no one longer sees.

Thundersnow... calm -WW

before the storm, warning!!!

view of snow storm clouds gathering over a Prairie-Chicken Refuge.

tomorrow we will officially be buried...

and, yes... it is in color!

Blizzard and Thundersnow Warning...

Oh MY! Yes Thundersnow!
Have you ever experienced it?

Our first big storm of the season has started....
Oh I can hardly hold in my joy.....

I have lived all my live in Wisconsin, but it does not mean I "love winter".
I was barely enthusiastic about it as a child, when a "Big Blizzard" would mean no school... and getting to go out and make snowmen and snow angels... To me it usually mean frost bit fingers and toes with fashionable blue lips, bbrrrr!
As a child I did try to enjoy winters delights, sledding, tasting the fresh snow and icicles, just watching the world turn a lovely shade of white. I even received Ice Skates one year from the Jolly Ol' Elf himself... little did he know, I had weak ankles, so I was found more face down on the ice than upright. While my cousins and friends would be gliding along, spinning and playing crack the whip! I would end up being the target for who they could snap off at the end of the whip and plow into me, and shove me back into a big pile of snow, yea fun...

Snowballs! I threw my share, but I received more than I gave... ahhh, Karma... so shall ye give so shall you receive in multiples... joy joy... not!
I could roll the snow into a big snow body sized ball with nary a problem... but somehow by the time I would arrive back in the nice warm house, I would be missing a boot and a sock, and both mittens???
I always wondered where they went?? Did the snowmen eat them? I always wondered why some seem to sport pretty scarves and hats with matching mittens on their stick hands.
Maybe I was lucky, that I was never trapped inside one! I always heard the tale of little Bobby who disappeared one wintry day while playing with friends in a giant snow ball contest... when the others went in for a hot cup of cocoa break, Bobby stayed out, diligently working on his monstrous snow ball, determined to have the biggest one in the neighborhood. He never came home that night, nor the next... if my little kids mind recalls all they ever found was a lone sock, boot and a pair of mittens with chew marks on them the following spring thaw...
((( shudders)))

School bell ringing would render us all to rush outside on many a cold winters day for recess, anxious to play, running and sliding and tossing hats and mittens in the air, I would gleefully join in. As a kid you quickly forget how mean ol' man winter can be. Fifteen minutes later the bell rang that ended the short burst of freedom from the days lessons. I often was sent to the nurses room. Mean woman, scared the bajeebees out of me! She had a smile that could send shivers down your spine on a warm day! The school nurse (I highly suspect if she really was one) would torture me by forcing me to hold my now almost black finger tips in a basin of water... my screams just seem to make her want to do it more! Now I know why she wore a pin of a smiling skull and crossed bones.
So the warnings have been coming almost hourly now, some sooner... first blizzard warning of the year, with thundershowers! Those creepy rumbles during the darkness that sound a tiny bit muffled from the heavy shroud of snow falling, falling faster... Wet, heavy and coming in drifts and maybe even feet high! Tomorrow may bring screams of joy from little school kids around... but from me... tonight, screams of white-blindness and frostbite demons to sway me to sleep... to dream, perchance to awaken in a sunny warm paradise... nahh, it is Wisconsin, and winter Has arrived.

Wordless/Wordful Wednesday!

A mystery easily solved .....

Photographic evidence should
provide the necessary clues....

Who is this handsome guy?

This is turning into a very word-full Wednesday !!!

If my recollection is correct..... it is our #1 Grandson!!!
Collin !!! Yippee!!!
Summer has swiftly past, since we last had fun together,
I am sure you have grown... would we still recognize you?
Oh, I think we might.... it would be hard to forget your cute smile and eyes so bright!

We wish we could be there singing special birthday songs, eating cake and all the fun you will be sure to have... but since we can't be there in person, we will be there in spirit and in heart !!!
So enjoy an extra bite of cake for us.

much love and many kisses,
Memaw and Buppa

See you soon!
