Digging for signs of Spring

It feels too long since winter began....

After sunshine and 60's last Friday then back to snow on Saturday,
I was hungry for signs of spring.....

today's 40's and lots of sunshine,
gave away to temptation to dig and hunt....

purple crocus bud

the first two will most likely be easy to identify....

This last one from the same rock garden,
may be a jumbled sprouting of spring greens that may leave you wondering....

Anyone care to take a guess on any of these ?

  12. I guess that it's going to be a joy to watch them unfold and bloom no matter what they turn out to be. Will irises perhaps.

  13. Looks like some very pretty flowers coming up! Are any Irises? Not sure what zone they best grow in, so this is simply a guess. No green thumb, here, either. Can't wait to see another pic. after they're fully opened! mayble73{AT}yahoo{dot}com. Love your blog......

  14. I am no good at flower names, but I enjoy looking at them.
Hopefully they get enough sunshine and warmth they'll be shooting up in no time.

  15. I like the purple bud. I live a long way away from you in the US, so I don't think much of our flora is the same. I won't take a guess on identifying your plants, but stop by and take a look at my WW. It's all about spring, too!

  21. Those leaves in the lower right could possibly be Jacob's Ladder? Good luck with your ID project. Time will tell!

  22. Mother Earth is "springing" to life right before our eyes!

  23. The buds are slowly creeping out more! Hopefully a late snow will not bite them!
For the guessers, the first 2 are of emerging crocus, always the 1st to appear here in zone 4-5 WI. the last is Jacob's Ladder ( 1 correct !!) and Spotted nettle crowding around it. Hopefully I will have more to share as the season proceeds!
thanks so much for stopping by & commenting too!
