80 Shades of white, frozen or not

I look around...

Hard is the frozen ground.
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter.

(my apologies to Simon and Garfunkle) 

  Blizzards, wind and numerous storms rage across the states... My head is full of visions of white. I know it has a long time to run. I am long tired of this achromatic scene, I wish it gone. Never, never do I get used to this season. This season of alabaster, cold, ice, winter, white!

  Tints of winter white surround my castle, trying to inhibit my movements. I will my eyes to find the beauty hidden here...

   Youngsters, I am sure, are enjoying this weather. They do not have the worries of removal, heating and driving. They can enjoy the fun things that comes with snow. I wish to go back to those times of just running out to play, plowing down sled runs, digging out snow forts and getting all rosy cheeked with my children. A bit of age and health issues that likens to corrupt our bodies keep me from that joy. I can still watch, but not long outside in the frigid temps. My vigil is through panes of glass.

  It just chills the skin, deep into the bones. Not invited. Not wanted. And not just here, and in many areas so much worse. I should not be so whiny, as winter is covering areas that normally do not see shades of white! I feel sorry for them as I am sure there are communities that are not equipped to rid themselves of ice, snow and nasty hues of winter. So I cast my mind eye to visions of warmer times, and offer them to share.

Warmer memories to trick the senses.

   But still alert !

great white can strike anywhere!
