Autumns colors slowly arriving

Guess what!

It has stopped raining here for 2 days so far! Sunshine sure brings out a whole different perspective on life. It may be our Indian summer, but I hope it lasts more than 3 days. The cold rain knocked a few trees bare before color could change. With the sun also came today some warm weather, Nice!!

So a quick view from my yard for your pondering...

Looking down my back yard hill...

you may click to enlarge,
please ask if you would like a copy, thank you

Looking up the same hill...

as you can see the tree in the center (hawthorn) has lost its' leaves from the cold rain,
the leaves you do see near it is a scrub maple growing near its base.
The hawthorn is slowly dying so hubby is letting the maple grow so it can replace it when he has to cut it down.

Any big weather changes by you this week?

Until next time...
I hope to be enjoying more sunshine!

  6. It looks like you are getting some color. I was noticing today that higher up on the ridge there are some beautiful reds beginning to turn.
Our weather guessers are promising several days in a row of 70s. I hope they are close. Sunshine and 60s would even be nice.
We are having wonderful clear skies overnight and great star views.

  7. It's so sad when the gentle creatures we call tree pass away. Last night I couldn't stop thinking about a sequoia we planted 20 years ago. I began to wonder if it lives long enough to become a giant whether our sandy clay soil would support it's roots or if it would fall because of its weight. I didn't want to wake my husband to ask his opinion about whether the sequoias in the mountains are rooted in granite and that's why they are able to stand 3000 some years and counting. Woke up and read the new that two giant sequoias fell in the night in those mountains. I wonder if ours is somehow telepathic and I picked up on it.

  16. Greetings, Faythe! Glad you have sun today :) It does make a difference! We are having warmish days and cool, cool nights, but the trees are still holding to their green dresses! One of these days we'll have a show.

  17. We are currently in San Francisco on our bay cruise. We've had rain for two days now and last night it was a bit storm. Rains off and on during the day. Oh well we're still having a blast.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  18. We had the same issue!! The leaves were just barely starting to change and then we got a huge wind/rain storm and now our trees are half bare. Such a bummer because when the leaves stick around, the colors are just beautiful!!

Have a wonderful rest of your week!
