Our quiet Christmas

It was just hubby and I this year at the homestead.
We had no way(or funds) to fly to California to meet our new grandson, we are hoping we get a chance in the new year. Some how things got all discombobulated over certain dates ect and we did not have a place to stay if we took the 6 hour drive to see our oldest son and family. So home alone is what we got. Quiet and boring.

Thank goodness I did get too see some pictures, on both of our boys family FB pages. So at least we had a tiny peek at what they all were up too. Not at all the same as hearing the grandkids laughter and seeing the joy in their eyes, but sometimes you have to take the little that is offered.

This is what I am sharing with you today.

I have heard that the tendency is for 'sons' to withdraw from their side of the family once married. Has anyone else experienced this?

until next time ...

  1. I've not noticed any difference in my son and he's 41. Thank goodness.

They are all adorable. I know how precious they are too. Perhaps soon.

Have a terrific day Faythe. :)

  2. What beautiful memories captured. Looks like a wonderful Christmas. Happy WW!

  3. Beautiful photo collection .
    Happy holidays

  4. home alone sounds very relaxing and enviable except when it means missing out on your grandchildren. Hopefully things will come together for you to take a trip out west and see your new grandson soon!

  5. Great looking tree... and baby.

  6. quiet can be good...
love the one of the baby in the Santa hat..too cute

  7. Loved the pics! Sorry you two were home alone...together. Maybe soon you will see them!

  8. Sometimes quiet holidays are the best... Happy New Years to you! Hope you see your grandson when you can enjoy the peace and quiet!

  9. Sweet photos, I wish my house was quiet...lol

  10. How cool is it that you got see pics the same day on facebook. When I was little we had to develop film and snail mail pics to my family. Hope you get to snuggle with your grandkids soon!

  11. We don't have kids but my brother and me are convinced we're adopted as our family is def a mess and we are perfect!

Happy New Year and meow from all of us. Au, Target and Guido.

  12. That's too bad you couldn't visit. Traveling does get pricey!

Have you ever tried to Skype? I've never done it, but my students talk about it all the time. Then my boss was saying that they talked to their son on Skype and he's overseas. That way you can talk to them right on your computer screen.

  13. Love the one of the baby in pajamas waiting for Santa to arrive.

  14. Awww...I hope you both get to be with your grand-kids by New Year. They're so cute, & I'm sure you want to enjoy how adorable they are. Hope you & your family have a very Happy New Year!

  15. thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. hope u will see them again soon!

  16. Aw, I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't able to make it out to celebrate with your grandchildren. Those holidays away from the ones we love are heard, aren't they? I know my parents miss me and my kids even more around this time of year and they're certainly missed in return. I cried many times throughout the day. I was so homesick! :(
Hope your Christmas was a lovely one despite the distance between you and your grandchildren!

  17. oh honey Thank God for FB - I know it saved my butt a few times when I was missin' my babies too! You aren't alone honey ever. Love is always in your heart & theirs. Prayin' you'll make it for the New Year or soon thereafter. hugssssssssss

  18. So sorry you weren't with the grands for Christmas, but thank goodness for FB. I know there are some risks involved, but seeing the pics of my grandkids pays off big time for me.

  19. thanks for sharing your Xmas memories. the baby is adorable.

  20. My son isn't married yet, but has already "withdrawn"....

When you do get together it will be all the more special - just cherish those moments and keep them in your heart, and in the meantime enjoy those gorgeous photos :)

  21. It was just the hubby, the pup and me this year too. Quiet, but boring. Though Cici (my pup) kept us entertained with her new Christmas toys.

The pics are great!...They're all so cute!

I have one son that stays fairly close, and the other I do not hear from very often since he started his own family.
    Hugs, Deb xx

  22. Adorable family! I hope you have the funds to visit them soon. ^.^

  23. so very sorry that you were unable to see your grandchildren this Christmas. That had to be quite sad.

There is some quote that I will probably butcher but it goes something like this, "A Son is a son until he takes a wife, a daughter is a daughter for the rest of her life!"

I don't have children of my own (just stepkids) so I can't speak from experience.

Either way, your grandchildren are just precious and I hope that you get to see them soon!

  24. It must be hard not to be with your kids & grandkids over the holidays, but at least you got pictures right away.

  25. The pictures are adorable! I wish I could <3 them all.

Have a very Happy New Year!

  26. Great photos & cute grandkids.

A quick question Faythe: How has your blogger been. The last few days I have found it slow logging in, viewing blogs (not just mine but any blogger blog) loading photos onto posts has been very slow, commenting etc. Just wondering if it's a general thing or our internet connection. However non-blogger sites seem to load ok. regards, Tony
