Our quiet Christmas

Alone...

It was just hubby and I this year at the homestead.
We had no way(or funds) to fly to California to meet our new grandson, we are hoping we get a chance in the new year. Some how things got all discombobulated over certain dates ect and we did not have a place to stay if we took the 6 hour drive to see our oldest son and family. So home alone is what we got. Quiet and boring.

Thank goodness I did get too see some pictures, on both of our boys family FB pages. So at least we had a tiny peek at what they all were up too. Not at all the same as hearing the grandkids laughter and seeing the joy in their eyes, but sometimes you have to take the little that is offered.

This is what I am sharing with you today.

I bet he could fit inside his stocking!

I have heard that the tendency is for 'sons' to withdraw from their side of the family once married. Has anyone else experienced this?

A Furry Funny Christmas

Are you getting stressed that the 'big day' is almost here?
Do you have everything ready to go,
or are you more like me and always have last minute everythings to do?

I thought so!...
(I am glad I am NOT alone!)

I have found that laughter can release stress,
so here are a few furry funnies to lighten the load.

Is that a wry smile I see on your face?
I bet some of that stress is sliding away.

bursting pink stars!

Here is is just about a week before the official calendar
start of winter, and what do my wandering eyes should appear...

A surprise from an old family heirloom,
pretty pink buds...

 heirloom Christmas cactus
buds and blossoms starting to burst,
can you see the Christmas tree behind?

a star is born!

as always, you may click on any of my photos to enlarge,
but please ask if you would like a copy

bursting pink stars all in glory

This family heirloom normally does not bloom at Christmas but usually around spring or Easter. Two years in a row it has delighted us. It looks looks like with many more flowers than last year ( to view a pic from last year here).
What a beautiful gift before the arrival of snow to bury us,
as winter always does.

until next time...

Did you enjoy my bursting pink stars?
Do you have any of your own?

Six candles

lower

Wow, it is hard to believe.
Our sweet first born grandson turned six on Monday!

Unfortunately, we were not able to make the long drive
to help share in the celebration.
I do have some pictures from this last September
on a sunny weekend visit.

please ask before copying

frozen fruit bars, yummy!

We are missing seeing this sweet little face
 and his little brother too.
Not to mention the wonderful weather,
as it is now grey, windy and cold.

Happy sixth birthday sweet boy.
All six candles blown out and many wishes for you.

Leftovers ...

Have you ever had a leftover coma?
Did a big meal ever leave you with that uggh feeling?

Remember I recently warned you about the
 cow zombies here and here?

Well the threat is spreading!
Zombies cows are not the only thing to worry about.
Now there is the real treat of leftovers!!!

It started here the day after Thanksgiving...

 I warned you about leftovers

Cows, fowl, birds and pets!
Heavens, what is next?

Aha! This seals it, I found an official warning sign.

There are plenty of opportunities to have large meals and parties with lots to consume in the coming weeks... So heed this warning, especially when it come to the leftovers.

Until next time,
I will try to keep you up to date
with any serious alerts!
I may have to consider a diet~

Have you felt or seen any of the
 leftovers zombie signs?

Also linking up to a new meme Black and White Wednesday at Like Christmas Everyday.

funny photos found on various free web sites and I have added the serious warnings.
if photo belongs to you and would like recognition
or removal please let me know.
