The weather has been very uncooperative this spring.
Not that we have anything to complain about compared to so many other parts of the country and world.
I have noticed in my area and my own garden,
that many pretty petals are late or did not even bother to come up?
Hopefully I have not lost some of these favorites for good.
After a day of digging and clean up that I am way behind in,
enjoying a surprisingly nice and sunshiny day,
I think - what can I share this week?
We have just gone through another long week of dreary, wet and cooler temperatures.
So, I thought I would share some treasured petals from years past that were already showing their beauty, normally by this time of year.
nothing like the fuzzy and prickly looking tongues of the Iris

from this angle this yellow iris appears to have tiny ears
and a very long bronzed tongue!
Are you peeking at my panties!
A red daylily shows off its yellow rear-end.
a deep orange with red tipped asiatic lily starts its show

I have dug all these beauties out of the vault of hubby's photo 2002 files. Long before I knew better ways to save,
store and show off his 'eye' candy.
I hope you enjoyed this parade of yellow to red petals.

So how does your garden grow in your area?
link up and share!
until next time ...
I am also linking up at A Southern DayDreamer for Outdoor Wednesday, and The Little Round Table.
Beautiful Photos!
ReplyDeleteHopefully this years can start looking just as beautiful soon!
ReplyDeleteWishing you sunshine...lovely flowers!
ReplyDeleteThe weather is indeed strange. I live in central California and usually from about May until November and sometimes December we don't even see rain. We have had lots of rain this year. In fact a storm is moving in now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such beautiful petals. We all need to see what should have been.
Have a terrific day. :)
Beautiful blooms, such pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely petals and I hope they bloom again. I live on the East Coast and the weather here has also been very wet. But, I actually prefer the cold. I hope for you, though, that you get some nice warm sun!!!
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous blooms. i could almost smell them from here.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful anytime you show them. Send the rain and cooler weather to me.
ReplyDeleteThose ones in the first photo - never seen them before. Really pretty!

I wish I had a green thumb. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have noticed that some of my flowers, namely my lilies and irises haven't bloomed this year either, it's very strange. Also some of my other flowers seem to be having much shorter bloom times! Not sure if it's all the rain or not!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I hope you have flowers soon!
ReplyDeletethat is beautiful..
ReplyDeletethanks so much for sharing...
Super Cute ♥
ReplyDeleteThat second picture reminds me of Audrey from the Little Shop of Horrors.

aaaww...I hope that you will have some beautiful blooms soon. The ones from the past years are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSo spectacularly beautiful. I had no luck with either. I'm beginning to think a green thumb means one that has turned green from regularly working, at weeding and watering!!!
ReplyDelete(Why I'm fond of love em and leave native plants which flourish all on their own.)
You have some of the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen! Gorgeous Iris'!
ReplyDeleteI love how beautiful flowers are
ReplyDeleteI love the orange iris - it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI also entered the wrong link into the linky - sorry! http://www.texastypeamom.com/2011/06/wordless-wednesday-629-airport-humor-2.html
Thanks for stopping by and your sweet comment. Your second picture looks like a bird or am I just over tired. Goodnight buddy I think I'm hitting the sack early tonight.
ReplyDeleteOur weather is so crazy! So many of my flowers have yet to bloom when they'd be peaking about now. Can't wait until it finally happens.
ReplyDelete~Mimi
Your pictures are always so awesome! I love them!
ReplyDeleteI just recently transplanted irises and lilies this spring. I totally thought of you and your beautiful garden while planting mine. I hope they don't die. lol
ReplyDeleteLovely double coloured petals of lilies. I seldom see such flowers around here.. I'm envious of your green thumb.. my plants seldom last long enough to fully bloom.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots...LOVE the yellow!
ReplyDeleteso pretty.

ReplyDeletethey are all pretty but I LOVE the the last one!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors, Faythe! love them.
ReplyDeleteThese are all great photos! Our lilies aren't blooming just yet, everything is slower for us this year too.
ReplyDeleteWe are in direct sunlight and 100-degree heat here. Our garden is pretty basic right now because everything just burns up this time of year. Our plumbago loves this weather, though!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. We too have irises of similar color and we too have had horrible weather this spring too.
ReplyDeleteOh, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteTHose are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous. I really love irises, I used to have them in Connecticut when I lived up there and miss them here in Florida.
ReplyDeleteEven if your garden is not doing so well this year you know it's potential. Nature has a way of making things right. Thanks for your visit which got me to you.
ReplyDeletelovely flowers!
ReplyDelete~ Jo's Precious Thoughts ~
I hope you'll be seeing lots of pretty petals very soon! I've been very lucky in my neck of the woods to be surrounded by lots of beautiful blooms already.
ReplyDeleteI like your "eared" iris. I have a photo of one "saluting" on my blog. They're one of my most favorite flowers.

I think those are panther or lion tongues in Dutch. Must ask a gardener!
ReplyDeleteHopefully our late blooming season will mean a colorful summer.
ReplyDeleteIn case I am not allowed computer time in the next few days - have a wonderful 4th of July!
Beautiful flowers. It's winter here so we got none. The 1st variety look like mini lettuce
ReplyDeleteJust lovely petals!
