Autumns colors slowly arriving

Guess what!

It has stopped raining here for 2 days so far! Sunshine sure brings out a whole different perspective on life. It may be our Indian summer, but I hope it lasts more than 3 days. The cold rain knocked a few trees bare before color could change. With the sun also came today some warm weather, Nice!!

So a quick view from my yard for your pondering...

Looking down my back yard hill...

you may click to enlarge,
please ask if you would like a copy, thank you

Looking up the same hill...

as you can see the tree in the center (hawthorn) has lost its' leaves from the cold rain,
the leaves you do see near it is a scrub maple growing near its base.
The hawthorn is slowly dying so hubby is letting the maple grow so it can replace it when he has to cut it down.

Any big weather changes by you this week?

Until next time...
I hope to be enjoying more sunshine!

  1. I'm still waiting for all the color here, but yours is gorgeous!

  2. Looks about like it does here! It stopped raining today and the sun was even out for a minute or two! :)

  3. I love this time of year!!

  4. I just love fall and the folliage! I love the smell, the colors and the cool crisp weather.

Hoping this finds you well and wishing you all the best,

I wish the weather hadn't been so tough on us... seems like the colors aren't as nice this year as some... but love your photos!

It looks like you are getting some color. I was noticing today that higher up on the ridge there are some beautiful reds beginning to turn.
Our weather guessers are promising several days in a row of 70s. I hope they are close. Sunshine and 60s would even be nice.
We are having wonderful clear skies overnight and great star views.

  7. It's so sad when the gentle creatures we call tree pass away. Last night I couldn't stop thinking about a sequoia we planted 20 years ago. I began to wonder if it lives long enough to become a giant whether our sandy clay soil would support it's roots or if it would fall because of its weight. I didn't want to wake my husband to ask his opinion about whether the sequoias in the mountains are rooted in granite and that's why they are able to stand 3000 some years and counting. Woke up and read the new that two giant sequoias fell in the night in those mountains. I wonder if ours is somehow telepathic and I picked up on it.

  8. PS yes we had our first rain last night too.

  9. This is your view from your yard? Dang, I'm movin' in with you!!!! It's beautiful! Have a great day Girlfriend!

  10. Nice colors, nice view. Happy Wordless Wednesday.

  11. Yearning for a colorful fall foliage season, crisp & cool.... Thanks for helping me keep my eye on that ball! Have a happy WW.

  12. Definitely waiting for some more color. And a break in the rain so hubby can mow the lawn. That poor tree.

  13. So beautiful! I love autumn when the colours change!
    Thanks for linking up!
    Happy WW!

  14. so far south here nothing yet, but its been cool past 2 days.

  15. Our leaves are changing too! YAY for fall!!

  16. Greetings, Faythe! Glad you have sun today :) It does make a difference! We are having warmish days and cool, cool nights, but the trees are still holding to their green dresses! One of these days we'll have a show.
Hey, when will you add me to your blogs-to-read? I'm feelin' a little left out :) Haha!

  17. We are currently in San Francisco on our bay cruise. We've had rain for two days now and last night it was a bit storm. Rains off and on during the day. Oh well we're still having a blast.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  18. We had the same issue!! The leaves were just barely starting to change and then we got a huge wind/rain storm and now our trees are half bare. Such a bummer because when the leaves stick around, the colors are just beautiful!!

Have a wonderful rest of your week!

  19. Oh, Wow! Faythe!! Thank you SO much!! You are a gem!! I love that you are so sweet to me!! May you be blessed this week, friend :)

Fall is one of my favorite times of year.

  21. It's supposed to be nice here (around 19-23 C) all through the weekend, which is our Thanksgiving (Monday October 10).

  22. Pretty colors! It was so hot last week in Delaware, then chilled way down on October 1st ... but it's supposed to get back into the 80's this weekend!

  23. It's always nice to get a break from the rain. It's spring here & we've had a glorious weather the past week. Today's a bit cloudy & gloomy though.

  24. I love all of the autumn colors too, but I am not overly crazy about the white stuff that simetimes follows!

  25. How pretty :)
enjoy the weather ! and Happy #WW !

  26. Gosh all the leaves gone already... such a fast change from summer.
