The signs of autumn are appearing.
The chill in the air has arrived early. Early enough that we had to turn on the heat.
That does not make me happy.
With the cooler and wet summer there is lots of vegetation that has spouted and already falling over into moldy allergy prone heaps. Making for itchy eyes and sneezing days ahead.
One area I can show this week is the ripe hops growing in my neighbors and mine yards. Neither of us brew home-made beer, but it makes a good growing vine for shade or trailing coverage.
So lets hop on to, the autumn preview!
fat (ripe) green hops

fat hops head hanging heavy on a on trellis (good for shade)
hops in the process of drying
hops seed head, nice and dried
these will fall to ground and self seed and grow more plants, if wanted

Is autumn showing its head in your part of the country. Or you in the part of the world where the new season will be spring?
Until next time ...
And we've had a hot dry summer. I'll be so ready for some cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day my friend. ♥♥♥

It's crazy hot in L.A.. 102 degrees!
ReplyDeleteHad the heat on for a few weeks now. It's been cold at night, and the days are cooler than they should be. I don't like what this says about the coming winter!
ReplyDeleteOh that naughty W word! I am still not thawed out from last year. and this cool summer did nothing to help!!
DeleteIt certainly feels like fall here. It's been really cold, and gets dark earlier.
ReplyDeleteThe temp has gone up in here Northern Cali. We are hitting 90 everyday in Bay Area.
ReplyDeleteI'd have no problem with 90... unless it's a very humid 90 ☺
DeleteWe are still having over 100 temps, I will be glad for the cooler weather. Thanks for stopping by this week, enjoy your day!
ReplyDelete100's probably gets old after awhile, esp if it is also humid. a nice middle ground would be nice ☺
DeleteAutumn gives good photo opportunities!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to some great pics from you. :)
Cool to see that your Hops are ready for harvesting. Happy WW
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the bed spreads are back on the bed, and the heat has been on and off, and the sweat shirts are now hanging in the closet. I cannot believe the Holidays are even around the corner. So do you really make beer??? That is too cool! HUGS my friend, I hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteNo we don't make beer, but some years there may be enough between the 2 yards to make a small batch. I know it is a popular hobby & lots of micro-breweries are out there now.
DeleteNow I fancy a beer!
ReplyDeleteYes the season is changing here as well. Theres still sun but the air is changing. =) #ww
ReplyDeleteNever seen hops growing before. Very pretty plant. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteWe only had a couple of hot days over the summer. It's been a chilly season so I'm a little worried about what's to come, lol!
ReplyDeletewe've had the same kind of summer. and after last years brutal winter, I am terrified what it may serve up !!
Deleteautumn is my absolute favorite season! I love it!
ReplyDeletefall is pretty with colors & I like the sunny days, but not seeing everything dry up & die. and I hate what comes next, winter - boo!
DeleteI love this time of year :-)
ReplyDeletePretty shots! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordless Wednesday!
We are not ready for the Brrrrrr Season!
ReplyDeleteLike many of the above I'm in CA, actually 29 palms so we've had nothing but heat here. I can't wait to get that fall weather. Love seeing your pictures, makes me miss Indiana that much more. Happy WW
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the hops as they grow. I know there are some grown in the area where I live but have never been by them close enough to get photos.
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely approaching autumn! I hope the Winter is not like last. It was brutal for most. Stay warm.
ReplyDeletewinter was terrible last year. than again I was never a fan of winter. But a normal summer at least takes the sting out of it for a short while.
DeleteIm hoping for a mild winter this year as far as temp, we dont usually get a lot of rain. Looking forward to the fall!!
ReplyDeleteCool shots! Autumn is here.
